Ryan loves God and loves people.  He currently serves as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia, a position he’s held since 2020.  He served as Senior Pastor of Bosqueville Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, from 2014 to 2020.

Ryan holds a Master of Divinity from Logsdon Seminary at Hardin-Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, with a minor in Communication, from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. 

In his ministry Ryan desires for people to encounter the living God.  He is committed to preaching and teaching, pastoral care and encouragement, discipleship, meaningful worship, partnering with other ministries in the community, and God-honoring leadership.  He has led congregations through significant seasons of growth and change.

Ryan is married to Bethany Busby, who ministers as a hospice chaplain.  They have three boys, Rory, age 11, Remy, age 9, and Rhett, age 6.

Ryan is thrilled about the opportunity to serve with the Journey Church family.  From 10:00a to 12:00p and 2:00p to 4:00p on Saturday, June 13, Ryan and Bethany will be at Journey Central, located at 5646 Cloverdale Road.  You are invited during either of these times to come and meet them and enjoy refreshments with others from Journey.

On Sunday, June 14, in Journey’s worship at 10:30a at Northside High School, Ryan will be preaching.  After the service, a Journey Church Members Meeting will be held in the auditorium.  Everyone who has completed the Journey 101 class and has officially asked to become a member of Journey will have the opportunity to vote on the possibility of employing Ryan Busby to become the next Lead Pastor of Journey Church after a time of shared ministry with Michael DuVal.
