People will be gathering anytime 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the picnic area below the lake (you can arrive sooner and stay later if you’d like, of course). Everyone is to bring their own food and drink for the meal that will begin at 12:00 p.m. Also, please bring chairs, outdoor games, water shoes if you plan to play in the creek, hiking gear, etc. If you’d like to carpool, people will be leaving the Journey office complex at 10:30 a.m. If you have questions, call the Journey offices at 540-966-5683.
Journey's Got Talent
Can you sing? Can you dance? Are your sketches works of art? Are your jam sessions the stuff dreams are made of? Journey’s Volunteer Appreciation Banquet is scheduled for Friday, September 28, at 6:00 p.m. at North Roanoke Baptist Church. This will be a great opportunity to showcase some of the talent of Journey Church folks! If you’re interested in showing off your talent, please call 540-966-5683 or email email@example.com. All talent submissions should be no longer than four minutes in length and must be turned in by September 9 to allow for proper planning. There may only be one talent submission per individual (with the exception of artwork to be displayed).
Volunteer Appreciation Celebration!

The faithfulness and commitment of Journey’s volunteers are among the best anywhere! A meal, desserts, and drinks, will all be catered. All volunteers and their families are invited—and don’t need to bring anything but themselves! Registration is REQUIRED by Wednesday, September 19. Click here to register.
People of all ages are invited to participate October 12-14 in our JourneyCares Weekend devoted to local missions outreach. A few of the outreach options include: working on a Habitat for Humanity construction site, serving in the Habitat ReStore, volunteering at the GOFest in Roanoke City or at the Fall Festival and Mingle in the Market in Vinton, assisting with a 5K race to benefit Family Promise, painting at Child Health Investment Partnership’s facility, caring for animals at Angels of Assisi, helping with the Boys and Girls Club of SW VA, or serving at a community outreach block party. By the end of August, we need to know who plans to participate so we may confirm which serving opportunities we’re able to commit to. All who have not yet received a JourneyCares t-shirt will get a free shirt for signing up. All participants are encouraged to wear their blue shirts as they serve throughout the community (let’s paint the town blue!) For more info, call Jackie Taylor at 540-966-5683 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
