The Roanoke Rescue Mission is sponsoring Happy Coats-giving to provide a coat to anyone that needs one in our community. They are accepting new and gently used warm winter coats of all sizes--from newborn to plus sizes. To follow the example of Jesus in caring for those who are in need, you’re invited to place coats into bins in the entry hallway of Northside High School any Sunday morning in October. #journeycares
Again this year Journey will be co-sponsoring Q Commons Roanoke. This remarkable event will link over 140 cities and thousands of people via simulcast for an important conversation about equipping Christians to engage this cultural moment well. Some of our nation’s most respected thought leaders will present on the theme Healing our Divided Nation. David Brooks (Cultural Commentator, The New York Times), Kara Powell (Fuller Youth Institute & Author), and Propaganda (Activist & Author) as well as three live local speakers will educate and stimulate your thinking. The event will be held 7:00–9:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, in the cafeteria of Northside High School. For more info and to register, go to: www.qcommons.com/roanoke.
You’re invited to attend our Journey 101 class that’s called Believing and Belonging. It will be 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, at our church office complex at 3574 Read Mountain Road. Annual Members Meeting

How we give reveals how committed we are to Christ who said “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) For all persons with income who are a part of our Journey family and who are not currently giving ten percent (a tithe) to Journey Church to enable our gospel-centered ministries to change lives, a challenge is being issued. The challenge is to increase your giving by 2% starting in October and continuing until the end of the year. When you give, you support our church’s children's and youth ministries, feed the hungry and provide for the poor, help build stronger families, care for the elderly, share the good news of Jesus locally and around the world, and make it possible for our church to have a staff that leads and ministers. May we continually embrace a culture of growing generosity in our church as we to be the love of Jesus in our world.
Journey Church has an opportunity to serve children in four elementary schools by partnering with Elijah’s Backpack, a ministry that every weekend sends food home from school with needy children who might otherwise go hungry. Every Sunday you are invited to bring food to Northside High School and place it in bins in the atrium. Here is a listing of food (individual serving sizes) to go into each backpack: 100% Juice; Oatmeal (Box with Individual Packages); Tuna Kits; Macaroni and Cheese Singles; Peanut Butter (Small Jars); Crackers; Chicken or Vegetable Soup; Apple Sauce; Fruit Cups/Canned Fruit; Spaghettios or Ravioli; Hormel Compleats; Canned Vegetables; Canned Chili; Goldfish; Pudding; Granola Bars
