What fears are you struggling with? What fears do you want to let go of?
In Journey Church’s “My Life’s a Mess” series, people who were a part of the in person service last Sunday placed in trash cans cards on which they’d written fears they want God to help them get rid of. Here’s some of what they wrote:
I’m letting go of the fear . . .
Of being alone
Of failure
Of not being good enough
Of letting my family down
Of not being a good friend
Of not being able to provide
Of not mattering to my parents
Of abandonment
Of being unloveable
Of not being accepted
Of my mean heart
Of missing out
Of being inadequate
Of making it
Of not being smart enough
Of sickness
Of feeling judged all the time
Of trying to meet everyone’s expectations
Of someone at school
Of the future
Of driving
Of heights
Of embarrassment
Of my daughter never coming back to Jesus
Of losing my job
Of rejection
Of comparison
Of commitment
Of public speaking
Of death
Of things I can’t control
Of retiring
Of losing my daughter
Of missing an opportunity to be used by God
Of letting people know me
Of letting down my husband and kids
Of the unknown
Of standing up for what I want for my life
When you feel afraid, repeat to yourself again and again the truth of scripture:
There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18a (RGT)
