How do you know? How do you know if you’re becoming a more fully devoted follower of Christ, or at least you are moving forward into a deeper relationship with Jesus?
Here are three key indicators that you’re living a Jesus-like life . . .
“Do as I did: The Son of Man did not come for people to serve him. He came to serve others and to give his life to save many people.” Matthew 20:28 (ERV)
Are you serving faithfully? Are you engaged in ministry in a way that’s making a positive, caring, compassionate difference in people’s lives? Is your serving others saving people from brokenness and hurt and selfishness as you model unselfishness?
How much more is done by the blood of Christ. He offered himself through the eternal Spirit as a perfect sacrifice to God. Hebrews 9:14a (NCV)
Are you sacrificing yourself for others? Does your patterning your life after Jesus cost you? Are you generously and sacrificially giving of your money, energy, and time so that the living God of this universe might be known and worshiped in life-transforming ways?
God has generously granted you the privilege, not only of believing in Christ but also of suffering for Christ’s sake. Philippians 1:29 (CEB)
Do you willingly suffer for Christ’s sake? Do you count it a privilege? Do you love people so deeply, even those who may reject you or ridicule you, that you are vulnerable to being hurt by them precisely for the cause of Christ and for his love to be known?
Do you think you’re becoming more and more like Jesus through your embrace of servanthood, sacrifice, and suffering love? Does God think so?
