Praise God for life change stories from Sunday’s baptism service . . .

My Story

“Before I trusted Jesus, my life was dark and lonely.  As a child, I battled severe anxiety and depression.  I always felt alone with my struggles.  I felt like I had nobody that understood me or what I was going through.  I constantly questioned and didn’t understand the purpose of my life.  I tried relying on myself and other people, but nothing was working.

Since deciding to trust in Jesus, I am much more confident and have less self-doubt.  I’m doing things I thought I’d never be capable of.  Although I still struggle with mental health, I don’t have to battle everything on my own.  I know the challenges are for a reason, and I trust that God will lead me where I need to be.”

My Story

“I grew up in church.  When I turned 18, I ended up joining the Marine Corps.  As a young adult, there was nothing anyone could tell me.  At 22-years-old, I felt like I knew it all and could do it all.  I started chasing money.  Selling marijuana came easy for me.  I made a lot of money very fast, but then came the police.  Getting arrested and going to jail even though for only a short time before I got bailed out was eye opening enough to know that wasn’t my life and where I was supposed to be.

We started coming to Journey.  I’m coming to church because I want to, and I want my family to be with me, so that’s when I made a point to focus on Jesus and learning what I can about him and changing my life to focus on his plan for myself and my family.

I know it was only because of God’s grace that I made it out of those tough times when I was younger.  I was lost in all the worldly things and confused on what I wanted to do with my life.  At this point in my life and with a lot of thinking, I have come to the decision of wanting to be baptized to show my love of Jesus and that I’m no longer who I used to be.”

My Story

“I was raised in the church.  I strayed from the teachings of Jesus after leaving home, thinking I did not need him.  I was a lost soul for many years.

Since deciding to trust in Jesus, I feel joy in my life once again.  I gave Jesus the reins, and I haven’t looked back.  He has helped me deal with my demons.  He has forgiven my sins.  Jesus has helped me to forgive myself which has helped me learn to forgive others.  With his love and patience, Jesus has taught me to love again.”
