How’s your praying going? There are so many things to pray about and for. Where should you begin? What might result in your prayers being more meaningful, possibly even more supernaturally empowered? Here are some suggestions you might want to try.
Pray first that you might embrace a spirit of genuine gratitude. Praying in the context of your personal thankfulness for your experience of the love and grace and mercy of God can help you overcome the tendency toward selfishness in praying.
Pray then for a heart full of humility. Confess your failings, selfishness, sin. Acknowledge how deeply you depend on Jesus to guide you and lead you. This also can help you overcome a tendency toward selfishness in praying.
Pray for courageous faith. Pray that you might trust God enough to get out of your self-satisfied comfort zone. Pray that you won’t allow your fears and insecurities to limit you from the kind of life Jesus is calling you to.
Pray for servant influence. Pray that you might love like Jesus so that you might reach more people for Jesus. Pray for God’s Kingdom, not your kingdom. Pray that God’s will be done, not necessarily your will be done. Pray for a heart to serve others more than self.
Pray for personal strength. Physical strength. Spiritual tenacity. Strength to cultivate Christ-like character. Strength to resist temptation.
Pray for Godly wisdom. Pray that you might know and embrace God’s perfect wisdom that’s not contaminated by self-focused worldly wisdom. Pray for the wisdom to align your will with God’s will.
These are some suggestions. What other prayers suggestions do you have? Would you want to share them in the Facebook group, Journey Church Online?
